Dear
Michelle --
I'm writing to thank you: for being such a pleasure to deal with; for
serving so tirelessly as a fount of information and assurance; and above all,
for my puppy, Micah.
Defying all my apprehensions about being a first time dog owner, and
specifically, the owner of a Tosa, she is sweet, kind, attentive, smart, fun,
calm, and easy going... It's almost not to be believed. She has not even
attempted to chew on ! a piece of furniture. I went so far as to leave
pillows on the floor to tempt into her an opportunity for me to
"train" her -- and she hasn't so much as licked them. At night,
I put her in the crate to go to sleep, but I leave it wide open -- and she stays
in there ALL night. She doesn't stir.
She was housetrained within a few days of her arrival, and since then, her only
"accidents" have occurred only when she couldn't find an open door to
the back yard.
As for the cats, the pictures say it all: she will let them pass beneath
her chin even while she's eating without batting an eye...
I take her with me as often as I can, wherever I can, and she has proven to be
in various environments respectively: a model houseguest, a lovely
playmate for other dogs, a gentle and eager friend to children, and an exemplary
citizen at out door cafés. The "Oohs" and "Aahs" come in a
constant stream from
passersby when I'm walking with her... And she returns their interest in kind.
So whatever unsavory myths or baggage the breed may carry from its lineage as a
"fight dog" has been utterly debunked by real life experience with
her. She is as gentle and friendly a creature as I have ever seen, while
being not at all submissive or fearful. She's bold and direct and open to
the world -- not frankly unlike myself. We were clearly meant to be.
So again, I thank you!
With love and gratitude,
Hanna
