(New Name, Miracle Trip)

The trip from hell!!!(Previous name)

Now I must say that on this trip from heaven, God was my passenger, that is the only way I can explain why I made it home alive.

Now that I am able to reflect back this is really a miracle trip. All the event that happened are nothing short of true miracles. I am taken back at all the things that happened on the second trip. You will see.....

Jacked truck Va 12-2003.JPG (345148 bytes)
I should have known when I made my turn on this road I hit some black ice and came within less than a foot from hitting a bolder. But being as hard head and driven as I am, I proceeded anyway down the road. I knew half way up I would not make it and my speed was just way to slow, but at this point it is just too late and I am already committed, saying some pretty profound words too. As I was thinking I am really in trouble, I lost all traction and started sliding down the mountain backwards with NO control. Now mind you the trailer behind me is 30ft gooseneck trailer. I tried to get it to a point to get it up or down and well now you see, I am stuck. Oh ya there is no service on the cell phone. So it is time to do the heal toe express. Oh ya one more ting it is 20 degrees out and the wind is blowing on the side of a mountain ion Virginia.

This is going up the mountain, I will get back to this picture later. Just wanted to give you an idea. I had to walk 4 miles in 20 degree weather with wind howling, and 1/2 a mile is up this mountain.

This is the drive way, now remember I am to pick up a 65 horse tractor plus six
implements

This is what you see when you look out the window of the car, just giving you the whole picture of this ordeal,  (If you are wondering I had them drive me down later to get pictures it is one of those things you have to see and I knew no one would believe me on how bad it really was)

The ice bridge 12-2003 Va.JPG (316389 bytes)
This is where it gets good, imagine you can not feel your legs or feet, you have been walking for about 3 1/2 miles and you come to this, why do you say you have to cross this, well the drive way is UNDER water, you see in the next pictures... Oh do not let me forget that this bridge is covered in ICE and I have to carry a 40 pound puppy across this.

This is why the tractor is still there, look at where the drive goes, INTO THE WATER. If you notice the brake in the water that is the drive way. On either side it dropped off 4+Ft. So needless to say, I was not getting a one ton 4 door truck with a  30ft, trailer around that corner and over that bridge.
Back to the story. I finally get to the house that is at least 1/4 mile from this in the snow. I felt a grandpa telling a story, I went to school in 10ft. of snow up hill for 5 miles both ways, lol..

So we get their vehicle and go to get my truck un stuck. It gets better, as we are going to the truck, there is a man walking telling everyone that there is a truck stuck in the road and his truck is stuck now too. His truck slide over 60ft and missed my truck by just 1 foot. That is why I say God was with me. So there just happened to be a 4x4 truck (that oh course God sent to get me out) and he got this man out and then mine. So we drive down and parked my truck on the street because as you can see I was not getting down that drive way. See the thing is even if I did get the tractor, I would not be able to get it out from that mountain. This one heavy tractor with 6 implements to. So now you see the tractor is still there and I am still alive. Oh, I must not forget that I was almost out of diesel. They said there is a place right on my way that has diesel. I thought I was in the clear, but NOOOOOO. 15 minutes before I got there some one bought all 2000 gallons that they had, yes you are right no diesel. So I think they have farm diesel and will not sell it to me, unless I have a gas can, so I buy one and get some stuff and I am finally on my way home. I got home after 10pm that night.

Now this is the trip where we finally get the tractor, but it is not that easy. You will see.

After loading the tractor and implements for several hours in 30 degree weather. A little warmer this time around. We (My father in-law and I) cross the Tennessee state line and we look over and someone is flashing their lights. I look back and we are on "fire". The trailer has had a flat in the rear and because of the weight the tire is now on fire. This person flashing is our angle (Brian) sent by God.

Howard taking a minute to laugh at what has happened, because now for some reason the truck will not start and it is getting really cold.

This is where it is getting good. Brain our Angel, is at Wal Mart at the next exit for us getting wire cutters because the wires from the tire are wrapped around the axel. This took several hours to change the tire and take care of. Now realizing that there is no way we will make it home with this kind of weight. I called Ronnie, but he is home with all three children and they are sleeping. So thankfully Frank that works for Ronnie just happens to be off work this night, he works two jobs and usually works nights, another intervention.

So we call Bill, Ronnie's uncle and have him come over so Ronnie can go to the shop and take the F-250 Truck in and hook up the trailer for Frank to meet up at the state line.

Now remember Brain our angle, he had been off of work for about an hour and did not feel good, so he just rested a little at work. When he went to start his car it would not start and there was only one person left, she gave him a jump. Then he started home. When Brian got on the interstate we passed by and he go in behind us. Then the tire blew. Nothing is consequence. To many things were meant to be. I have not been so thankful in a very long time. I feel such a presents from God that night that it was unmistakable. After this trip and events that happened I have gotten a second lease on life per say. After Frank arrived at the next exit up we had to unload the tractor and all the implements and reload them on the second truck and reload the tractor on our trailer. I think that we got home at around 4am that night. Thank God all were alive and in ONE PIECE!!!
